The Government’s Make Things Right campaign
Are you living in social housing? Having issues with your home? Willow Tree Housing is backing the Government's campaign that aims to ensure that:-
- you know your rights
- you know how to complain
- and you feel empowered in the knowledge that your voice will be heard
The campaign is designed to make social tenants aware of their right to report issues and make complaints to the landlord, but also informs tenants of their rights to escalate their complaints to the Housing Ombudsman where complaints are not dealt with effectively by the landlord.
Find out more about the campaign.
What to do
Step 1. Report it to your landlord. Then, if it is not fixed…
Step 2. Complain through your landlord’s complaints process, and if you’re not happy with the final response from your landlord...
Step 3. Escalate your complaint to the Housing Ombudsman.
The Make Things Right campaign states that the Housing Ombudsman is impartial, will investigate fairly, and can order your landlord to take action. If the Ombudsman has ruled against a landlord, they must show they are taking action within 6-8 weeks. Last year, the Ombudsman ordered landlords to pay over £1million in compensation to residents.
